Curriculum
Our curriculum at Our Lady & St Peter's
At OLSP, we follow the National Curriculum. For more information about the core and foundation subjects and how we deliver them at our school, please click on the menu to find out more about our subjects for precise year information.
Our school offers children a broad and balanced curriculum and considers the teaching of the foundation subjects, including the Arts, vitally important.
Over the year, as well as the normal curriculum, we have planned in extra personal development days for the children to have additional opportunities to explore the wider curriculum and all it has to offer.
More detailed information about each subject area can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/national-curriculum
Learning
The National Curriculum is made up of four core subjects, English, Mathematics, Information & Communication Technology and RE and six foundation subjects, Design and Technology, History, Science, Geography, Art and Design, Music and Physical Education.
In addition to Religious Education, which permeates everything we do, Health Education, Citizenship, Education for sustainability and the personal, social, spiritual and physical development of each child will be addressed throughout the curriculum and the general ethos of the school.
The school also works hard to promote Excellence and Enjoyment in learning. We use visits, visitors and artefacts in addition to ICT to try to ensure learning is stimulating and enjoyable.
